Stockholm Pride changed shape in 2026, with a new festival area and a new parade route. Here is what the week holds, what is free, how to get around on parade day, and how Swedish law protects LGBTQI+ visitors.

What happens during Stockholm Pride week
Stockholm Pride is the capital’s LGBTQI+ festival, run by the non-profit association of the same name, which says it has held it for nearly 30 years. The week has five parts, and only one of them needs a ticket.

In 2026 Pride House ran 27–31 July from 11:00 to 17:00 at a hotel conference venue on Norra Bantorget, a short walk from T-Centralen. Pride District was open 30 July–1 August: 16:00–01:00 on Thursday and Friday, 14:00–01:00 on Saturday.
What changed in 2026: Pride District replaced Pride Park
If you went before, two things are different. The festival area moved from Östermalms IP, the sports ground where it ran as Pride Park, to Slakthusområdet near Globen metro station, and it is now called Pride District. The parade route changed too: it now ends at Slussen instead of Östermalms IP.
Old information is everywhere, including on the organizer’s own site. Its parade page still carries an older block describing the route to Östermalms IP, with viewing places on Vasagatan and at Stureplan. Its English FAQ is still the 2025 version, with Pride Park and 2025 prices. Follow the 2026 route and the Swedish pages, or you will wait on the wrong street.
The Pride Parade: route and time
The parade is the highlight of the week. The organizer calls it the largest in the Nordic region, with tens of thousands of participants and a very large crowd along the route. In 2026 it left at 13:00 on Saturday 1 August. It is about 4.5 km long and takes around two hours from start to finish.

Anyone can walk in it. The parade is classed by law as a public event (offentlig tillställning), so you can join on foot without registering. The organizer asks you to respect the theme of the group (ekipage) you walk with and to follow the rules of conduct (ordningsregler), which are published in Swedish and English. Organizations with vehicles must register in advance; the 2026 deadline was 31 May.
Free vs ticketed: what you pay for
You can have a full Pride week without a ticket: the parade and Pride House are free. Pride District is the only paid part. In 2026 a day ticket cost 390 kr and a three-day pass 690 kr at full price, with reduced prices of 220 kr and 350 kr. A service fee is added, and tickets bought at the on-site booths carry a higher fee than online. Children up to 14 get in free with a responsible adult aged 18 or over; from 15, a youth ticket applies.
The rules at the gate are strict:
- No own food or drink, alcohol, drugs, weapons, glass bottles or spray cans
- There was no bag ban in 2026, but every bag is checked at Pride District and Pride House
- Pets stay out; service and guide dogs are allowed
- The organizer recommends ear defenders for children under 13 near the stages
Security is planned with the police from threat assessments, so allow time at the entrances.
Accessibility
A personal assistant (ledsagare) gets in free when they show an official certificate (myndighetsintyg). Service and guide dogs are allowed. The organizer’s 2025 notes described the Pride House venue as having ramps, lifts, accessible toilets and a small number of portable hearing loops; ask the volunteers in good time if you need one.
The weak point is the parade. The organizer promised accessible viewing places (tillgänglighetsplatser) on the 2026 route but had not published them on the page we read. The spots still listed on the same page belong to the old route. Contact the organizer before the day rather than heading to Vasagatan or Stureplan.
For travel, most metro entrances have lifts, and SL publishes accessibility information for its network.
Getting around and where to stay
Parade day disrupts transit. In 2026 SVT reported diversions from about 11:00 to 22:00, affecting 12 bus lines and the city tram between Nybroplan and T-Centralen. Plan on the metro instead; see our Stockholm public transport guide for tickets.
Pride District is on the metro. The nearest station is Globen, about 400 m away, then Gullmarsplan, about 800 m. From the parade finish at Slussen it is three metro stops. Pride District closed at 01:00 in 2026, and the metro runs all night at weekends, which covers Friday and Saturday nights.

Your rights as an LGBTQI+ visitor
Swedish law protects you while you are in Sweden, whoever you are.

The Discrimination Act does not cover private and family life. If the problem is at work and you are a union member, go to your union first; everyone else goes to DO.

When is Stockholm Pride?
Stockholm Pride runs for about a week at the end of July and start of August. In 2026 it ran from 27 July to 1 August, with the parade on Saturday 1 August at 13:00. The organizer had not published 2027 dates by 25 September 2026, so treat third-party 2027 dates with caution and check the official site.
