Why this exists
Most travel content answers "where should I go?". Almost nobody answers "how do I actually do this here?" — how self-checkout works, whether cash is accepted, what the bottle-deposit machine wants from you, what ej dricksvatten means. Those are the questions people type into a search box at 9 pm from a rental cabin. This site exists to answer them definitively, once, and keep the answers current.
How every guide is made

Research against official sources
Swedish authorities first — the agency, the law, the operator. Every factual claim in a guide traces to a source register, and facts are labeled by strength: law, official guidance, or common practice.

Two editorial gates
A guide passes a fact review before writing and a quality review before publishing. Nothing ships because it "sounds right."

Dated and re-verified
Every guide shows when its facts were last verified, and volatile topics are re-checked on a schedule — prices and rules change, and stale advice is worse than none.
Our sources
We cite the institutions that own each answer: Naturvårdsverket for the outdoors, Livsmedelsverket for food and water, Systembolaget for alcohol retail, Riksbanken for cash, Polisen for law and safety, 1177 for healthcare — plus municipal and operator sources where they are the authority. Each guide's verification date and source register are noted at the end of the guide.
When an official source is unreachable or ambiguous, we say so in the guide rather than papering over it.
Independence
Explore Sweden Now is independent. We are not affiliated with Visit Sweden, the Swedish state, or any company we write about. If a guide ever contains affiliate links, that guide discloses it plainly; guides about rules and safety carry none.
Where we are today
The library currently holds 394 published guides, growing continuously toward full coverage of the practical questions visitors actually ask. English first; German and Dutch editions are in preparation.
